Meet Karen

I am an equine scientist who specialises in horse-related safety, and horse behaviour and training. I'm also a rider and horse owner who loves going for a gallop around a cross country course!

This photo of me is few years old now, but was from one of those blue-sky days where everything goes right. Rocky and I had a super time that weekend - pure fun!

Through my research, I found that there is a connection between how we feel and how our horses feel.

I found when are horses are feeling good, then life is usually pretty great for us too. Its when our horses are feeling good that riding is easy and fun!

Of course the opposite is true also. If things are hard for you, then its likely your horse is having a tough time too. When I work with riders and horses we look at what's going right and what's going wrong, so you can achieve your goals, feel safe and enjoy your riding.

Many old training methods work, but they often come at a cost.

Understanding and using the latest science has to offer means you can achieve your goals and have a happy horse. And as you know, happy horses are fun horses.

If this sounds like something you would like for you and your horse or your clients - get in touch, I would love to hear from you :)

I have a podcast...

In 2024, I launched my podcast, Changing Rein with co-host, equine vet and Thoroughbred breeder, Meta Osborne.

Together, Meta and I interview an array of experts, riders and industry professionals as we explore the many opportunities to improve the lives of horses and humans in equestrian sport - I invite you to take a listen!
